Risers
What are risers and why get them?
State code requires a septic tank to be at ground level or, at most, 12 inches below ground. Unfortunately, many tanks are not up to code. Risers help bring your system into code compliance by "raising" the tank opening to ground level. This makes accessing your tank easier, thereby allowing it to be maintained more effectively. Getting risers is essential for renters, those who plan to live in their homes forever, or those with more people living at home, as they save you time and money. With risers, you can ensure the outlet filter is cleaned every 6 months and that your system is operating properly.
Risers
Risers replace the concrete access port and are generally cemented to the tank. The sections of the risers interlock and screw together to ensure a water tight seal. The lid can be easily removed with a drill or screwdriver to inspect and work on the tank.

The state of Georgia requires your septic tank top to be between 6 and 12 inches below the ground. Risers should be installed if the tank is below 12 inches.
